Just reflecting on the significance of firstly Newmont acquiring Newcrest's Cadia , and now Evolution ( not unexpectedly) snapping up the "for sale" 80% of CMOC's North Parkes operation.Neither won't or shouldn't be underestimated .
Jake Klein at Evolution has shown in the past , and again with this transaction , he wants to enhance long term operations , in sustainable locations ..and with a particular focus on copper .Gold is likely the bonus prize .
Raising the cash with a placement 8% below market ( $3.80 ) , has been done at the drop of a hat , and increasing the debt facility by (only) $200 m , is both smart and well timed . Acquisition is estimated be be cash flow positive of course .
NSW/ Lachlan fold belt ..and Newmont and Evolution have both now shown they are maximising long term growth by purchasing these high volume/low grade long term mines .Regis ..also in there albeit at a far less scale with Mc Phillamy's .
What unfolds at Alkane ..firstly Boda and then with some of their regional targets ...in the next 12 months , is going to get more and more interesting , as the updated MRE's combined for Boda/ Kaiser come together , and ALK does its first Prelim. Economic assessement . Its then ..the initial JV potential discussions on Boda move to a more meaningful level ...and hopefully , in the "background", Tomingley is expanding growth and revenue , and ALK remains self sustaining and in sole control of its own destiny .
That scenario has been the "foundation" that Ian Chalmers with his exploration skills and Nic Earner with his operational skills have laid .Both in exploration success, and operational expansion , the next 12 months hopefully see another big step forward , in ALKANE becoming the next recognised player in the region. It will have a very good story to tell , to whoever ALK talks with , domestically or internationally !
End game ..however ..is that a sustainable upswing in share price occurs ...as you never get a feed out of a plate full of optimism alone .
