Interesting, during the deferred settlement period no one needs to know you have sold short .
The critical date is Friday , 5th December where T +3 trading starts.
All non disclosed short sellers will need to buy back by COB on Friday 5th December or they will not have stock to cover short sale on Wednesday, 10 December when settlement of all trades occurs. If there are a lot of undisclosed short sales then expect a big ramp up on Friday , 5th December.
