There was excessive retail demand for Medibank Private - $4.8B, of which perhaps $2B will be allocated (we will know soon).
So about $3B to flow back to retail investors.
…and there was a big $12+B broker demand (though funds lodged only for "firm" allocation), and I expect most requests for stock were gaming the allocation (i.e. ask for 2 to 5 times what you want).
…and institutions will have been holding some funds aside hoping to get stock.
So what happens post allocation when these funds are back firmly in the hands of investors??
Will there be some firm buying of quality div-paying companies, and a bit of a boost to the market?
If so, maybe it will be called the Cormann bounce!
DYOR of course
