First let me say myself and partner have for about 20-30 years used a medical practice which bulk bills. They flirted with charging some patients a few years ago but abandoned it fairly quickly. So really I've got no idea what they charge. I don't sign anything, I don't see anything. But enter Teleconsults v2. We frequently get a teleconsult for repeat prescriptions, mostly for the better half and just recently - maybe some haven't seen this - after a teleconsult you get a seperate notification in which you have to authorise Medicare to pay the doctor and it quotes the amount...$92 in this case.
This is probably an after hours charge because that's when he usually attends to these...when he finished with face to face patients and before he goes out to one or two aged care homes to see people. He often jokes about not wanting to go home because his wife will want him to do things round the house.
I don't care if he gets $92 for 5 or 10 minutes work, it's only very indirectly coming out of my pocket. But what do you think? Is it reasonable? I think it is. He's getting paid for his considerable knowledge and care and this probably allows him to spend more time with patients that need more care and diagnosis
