Undoubtedly the US has it's fair share of problems associated with it's high debt levels, no one could possibly deny that? However once the debt ceiling is raised yet again I believe this will have a negative impact on the POG in the short term and as such I expect the price to ease.

In the longer term if/when the US economy implodes I'm not sure how gold could really be a better commodity/currency than anything else.

I'm not sure if people fully appreciate the high degree of fragility within the global economy now and for the forseeable future.

China will effectively take the same route as the US.
