Mercedes and BMW released concept e scooters last Sept at the Paris motor show - see : -

but it is believed that they are looking at a range of e scooters. Although the pricing on the above concept models are not known - they are likely to be at the premium end of the market. - ie well above the retail price of an E-Max.

From my research the cheapest e scooters are those designed and made in China - but historically there have been quality issues. The most expensive are like the above - designed in Europe / made in Europe. The E-Max being European designed / China manufactured results in a respected quality scooter at a competitive price - which places the likes of E-Max in a good marketing position.

It is understandable that there would be some type of JV interest by Mercedes / BMW with Vmoto - so as to have some e scooter models at a more competive price point.
