TORONTO, ONTARIO, Jul 10, 2006 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) -- Mega Uranium Ltd. ("Mega") (CA:MGA) announces today that it has set the date for its special meeting of shareholders to approve the previously announced 2-for-1 stock split (see press release dated May 30, 2006) and to approve the previously announced shareholder rights plan (see press release dated April 25, 2006). The special meeting of shareholders will take place on August 17, 2006.

The 2-for-1 stock split and the shareholder rights plan remain subject to shareholder approval and the stock split remains subject to approval of the TSX Venture Exchange.

Further information concerning the stock split will be contained in the management information circular which will be mailed to shareholders and be available on www.sedar.com on or about July 26, 2006. Mega does not anticipate having to make a name change as a result of the split. The number of shares outstanding after the proposed stock split will be 106,292,026.

A copy of Mega's amended and restated shareholder rights plan has been filed on www.sedar.com on July 10, 2006.
