Honestly I think the LNP and Murdoch are just hanging Dutton out to dry, they know his chances of winning the next election are slim to nothing so leave him as leader, make him take the fall for a poor campaign and parachute whoever is more palatable to the public post election. Makes zero sense to change leadership now and set the next opposition leader up for an immediate failure.
Dutton is purely there to warm the seat and try sow as much doubt and fear as he possible can
