monopoly...Customer's don't want the banks ATM machine's as most are in the "hole in the wall " locations generally. The only other locations I see bank ATM's are at major shopping centre's. Given that Customer's is well on the way or is already the lowest cost/ most efficient ATM operator in this county with DC it is a given that they will be asked to operate other bank ATM networks for a fee. So to answer you question, with the end of "free money " aka ""ïnterchange fees" banks will revert to offering free ATM fees for the "" hole in the wall "" ATM's...just to keep the customers from bothering the staff in the bank. Fortunately Customer's doesn't compete with banks in this space. Off premise ATM's machines for banks are harder and more costly to operate and over time they are more likely to exit the market or engage a specialist ( Customers ) to operate on their behalf...It's all basically commone sense.
