I just got back from Sydney, sorry but it's a very ugly city, saw about 100 houses and 524 336 354 apartments, no matter where you went, even out in the sticks.
At least Melbournes got architechture, sydneys got buildings.
However, Melbourne does have about 634 375 298 345 less apartments than Sydney, from what I've seen, but even still there is a lot considering the number of willing residents or buyers. We don't have the demand down here to satisfy supply.
