Top Pick--Im recently arrived to Melbourne from Sydney, theres certainly better value down here, all things are still tough. I'm in the lower income group of people--if I was in Sydney, the only way I would be able to buy something is going out to the far western suburbs--past Mt Druitt!--Here though the 4th cheapest area in Melbourne is Broadmeadows (where Eddie Maguire grew up) its a "working class" area. Drivable to the city is around 30 to 40 minutes (if that) median average house price is 253.000--if that was Sydney in distance that would be something like Hurstville or something--median average more like 700k.
