He's working a crowd to build his social media following cause he's a tool of his wealthy patrons. The problem is that there are dumb marks who take him seriously and give him attention by protesting his safe spaces. He's a narcissistic tool who feeds off notoriety. They should have ignored him. From what I hear, his talk was a harmful as being flogged with warm lettuce.
