Conservative activist Avi Yemini said protests outside Milo Yiannopoulos speech was like being in the Middle East

AN ‘Ozraeli’ activist has shared what he claims really happened at the Milo rally in Melbourne, saying it felt like he was in the Middle East.

Armoured police were deployed when protesters clashed in Melbourne outside a venue where alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos was speaking on Monday, December 4.
According to the Herald Sun, demonstrators were pepper-sprayed as they began to fight, with some reportedly throwing bottles and rocks and letting off fireworks.

RIGHT-wing activist Avi Yemini has described what he claims really happened during the violent clashes outside Milo Yiannopoulos’ event in Melbourne, saying Australia is in the middle of a “war on freedom of speech.”

The conservative activist and former Israeli soldier took to his Facebook page to post an eight minute video about protests a night earlier that left an police officer with minor injuries after being hit by a rock.

The man who describes himself as a “proud ozraeli” said he was compelled to share his thoughts after seeing media coverage of the event.

“You had a small group of pro-Milo supporters. People who are standing up for freedom of speech. People who are proudly announcing that they are Aussies. You don’t have to agree with all their different schtick,” he said.

“But then you had a massive crowd surrounding the maybe 50 pro-Milo supporters. You had a massive crowd of hundreds ... You had Antifa with their face coverings, you had Muslim women in burkas ... throwing their middle fingers up and calling me a Nazi.”
“Guys this is a war on freedom of speech, there is no two sides here.”

The conservative activist, who runs an “Israeli Defence Force” style gym in Melbourne called media reporting on the event “disgraceful” and said those supporting Milo were not just “skinhead neo Nazis” but ordinary people worried about Australia.

“It felt like I was in the Middle East on the Gaza Strip again where they were throwing rocks at the police,” he said.
“Islamic terror that is what it was, on the streets of Melbourne. The leftists teamed up with Islamists.”

The comments come as Yiannopoulos was forced to ramp up security and keep the location of his Syndey show secret after receiving death threats ahead of his speech.

Ahead of the event, his promoter Damien Costas said “safety is a major concern”.
“There have been many death threats targeted at Milo, myself and others in the team,” he said.

“We’re going to have armed guards and a much stronger police presence than last night.”

On Monday, hundreds of protesters from the left-aligned Campaign Against Racism and Fascism and the right-wing True Blue Crew rallied outside the Melbourne event. Police in riot gear were in attendance while two protesters — one from each side — were arrested for “discharging missiles”.

Speaking about the night’s events on Tuesday morning, Yiannopoulos denied right-wing groups were at fault, saying it was “only the left showing us who they really are.”

He said it showed Australia has “a serious problem with free speech”.

“It suggests something about a deeper malaise in the state. It doesn’t speak highly of the country,” he told 2GB.
