sadly in this mess these distinctions are lost and we are now seeing played out the consequences of centuries of persecution of Jews, the consequences of evangelical Christianity and their myths of Armageddon (which is deeply entwined with Israel), and meddling of other nations in middle eastern politics and economies.
both sides can find justification for their actions and both sides now feel deeply aggrieved. All I can feel is dreadfully sad that human lives are now being sacrificed in this way.
