Land tax is not the answer to anything.

This proposed tax is ridiculous - good that it was defeated. What on Earth do the governments do with all our money as currently they get:
    - Stamp duty when you buy a house (supposedly to fund infrastructure)
    - Land tax if it is an investment over the applicable threshold (again supposedly to fund infrastructure)
    - A myriad of levies (taxes in another name)
    - subdivision costs
    - council rates
    - GST
    - And income tax (a portion of which should be going towards infrastructure).

Time to tackle government waste before imposing more taxes. How much of our money is wasted on pointless bureaucracy just to make small decisions about infrastructure! Additionally so much of our infrastructure built these days does not last - how about spending a little more at the start to have the infrastructure last longer so we don't have to constantly reach into our pockets and spend more to redo the whole thing in a few years or put up with crappy infrastructure.
