"Pin flyers on every tree trunk in every coastal village in Indonesia offering $1000 for information to stop a boat leaving Indonesia or the arrest of a smuggler.
Would cost perhaps $50,000 a week at most in rewards.
The islanders currently living on about $10 a day will jump all over this to claim rewards.
The boats leaving Indonesia would dry up in an instant."

I would expect a complete debacle from such a numbskull scheme...

Consider situation of whistle-blowing in Australian on the dangerously ruthless union-bosses or any of their multitude of probably criminal stooges running their "enterprise"

Get a shovel delivered as warning and maybe end up "sleeping with da fishes"..

Now consider doing that with just as ruthless criminal gangs of people smugglers with a business model that seems to entail deliberately disabling boat-loads of men, women and children in harsh weather to take profitable advantage of our own socialist clown Gillard's created and maintained honey-pot-of-death...

You really want to decide to take "lead" in the usual "lead or silver" decision made famous by drug-king Escobar's enforcers?

Lots of hungry sharks to feed to those who decide for the lead...

When there is such a purposefully created and maintained honey-pot of life-time freebies that potentially generates a hugely profitable cash flow from criminal gangster groups that Gillard's policy is encouraging, it takes a very brave man to stand up to them alone...

Until Gillard's insane open-borders policies are stopped and the working and proven effective John Howard policies are re-implemented in full, the criminal gangster group's business will continue to thrive and people will continue to die needlessly...

Bad, incompetent and completely irresponsible government as we have now in Australia has a steep price for all and unfortunately some end up paying with their lives...
