Might have been posted before but for those who haven't read it or are interested, here's a report by Gino Putrino MEMS Research Group UWA which goes some of the way to demystifying the technology for us plebs.
Calls HC Forum "notorious" though....HUH!! Bloody cheek! lol
An AFR article I read goes on to say that MEMS technology can detect whether a person has an illness eg lung cancer, just by blowing into a pipe and can remotely detect explosives at an airport.
