No, that is not the definition of dilution. All ore has some dilution, the higher the dilution the lower the grade.
You can have more dilution than expected and still process at a profit, however your profit margin will reduce. Once dilution reaches a certain level whereby the grade becomes low enough to not cover costs you start processing at a loss.
