I remember this one. The project was an old cane growing paddock covered in mill mud (black stuff left over when sugar bagasse is burnt). The fraction of the sand which met specifications was far less than 20% and even then would have required processing though an extensive flowsheet to meet buyer specs (wet attritioning, sizing, high intensity magnetic separation). Marty told everyone that it was a dig and ship ready project, which would have been discovered to be wrong the moment CRB did any due diligence. Plus the nearest viable port was over 300 km away (as the closer ports were not licenced for this and would have cost too much to bring into compliance), so logistics was a killer too. Basically a project suitable for providing kindy's with sand for their sandpits was promoted as being able to provide top quality silica sands.
