A bit of background: Some foreign visitors are struggling to follow the story. So read the original post first then come back up to read the updates. A quick precis: yesterday allegations emerged on twitter of a menu at a Liberal party fund-raiser. The menu was ‘leaked’ by a former employee of the cafe where the fund-raiser had occurred. After the fact it turns out that the menu was fake – or, at least, not the official menu used on the evening.

David Carter is the persons word Julia Gillard believes over the word of the restaurant owner:

So he doesn’t know who wrote the menu, if it distributed, and he wasn’t even working at the place at the time. But he “knows” the owner would have distributed it and he “knows” Joe Hockey was there and would have seen it.
