One could speculate that they sold out because they knew some thing. That is true or though I have seen nothing to support that. But the fact that they turned they attention to coal seam and had given the go head for a $4-5 Billion plant at Gladstone seems more plausible to me.
There is only 1 field producing in the whole area. The Gov. has a use it or loose it policy in place. Decisions have to be made.
As for Santos having a fair idea. Why did they buy Evens shoal of MEO in 02. It's full of CO2. 25%. They still have it 8 years later. Bet they don't think it's a smart buy now.
Only time will tell if the Herons are commercial or not and we will find out just how much some one is willing to pay to find out. The bidding starts at $120m
