11/04/2003 - MEP'S CEO SPEAKS TO MARINE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION


Charles E. Leffler, CEO and President, Marine Environmental Partners, Inc. (MEP), will be a speaker at the International Council of Cruise Lines (ICCL) 7th Annual Leadership Forum being held at the Hotel Inter-Continental, Miami, November 4-6.

Presenting "Waste and Ballast Water Sanitation through Electro-Ionization: Effective, Efficient and Affordable," Leffler will describe the development, testing and operation of MEP's award-winning MariSan Systems. MEP's MariSan technology has received worldwide attention from environmental groups and the marine industry because the treated effluents are free from harmful chemicals, bacteria or invasive species, and the technology is cost-effective to purchase, operate and maintain.

The ICCL's Annual Leadership Forum is a gathering of the nation's top cruise line executives and the industry's leading suppliers. Its purpose is to educate its members on such issues as security, public health and the environment as well as to introduce new trends in ship design and food service. Based in Arlington, VA, ICCL cruise line members include Carnival, Celebrity, Costa, Crystal, Cunard, Disney, Holland America, Norwegian, and many others.

As a supplier to the cruise industry, MEP is an associate member of ICCL. Based in West Palm Beach, the company's MariSan products serve a variety of marine applications including shipboard wastewater, ballast water, sea chest, and wastewater and process water from shipyards and offshore platforms.

This year, MEP was honored at the Seatrade Awards for the "Protection of the Marine and Atmospheric Environment" and at the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) Queen's Golden Jubilee Awards, both held in London.
