    Sorry I disagree. Earnings are obviously necessary for dividends to be paid but ultimately it is the dividends paid / expected that will drive the share price. This is evidenced for example by the effect on share price when a company changes their dividend policy with no change in eps.
    With respect to tax give me a fully franked dividend rather than a discounted capital gain any day.
