I think the automotive grade chips will become available more quickly than you think.
Mercedes stated at CES they will announce their Ai partner later in the year. Not sure what "later" means though. Could be a German/English language barrier at play. Later is technically later than CES in my mind.
I have confirmed verbally with the company that they are still heavily involved with Mercedes. It's not just a brand on a website with a guy working away alone on a AKida development board.
