Mercedes is probably putting a lot of development cost into AKIDA, letting the others work it out for themselves, wasting time, money and possibly the wrong IP, costs a lot to start again with the right one.
I agree that change does cost money. So, you hope to pick the right one the first time. Let every car company spend the R&D that MB has to find the one that suits their needs.
Some would blame that on our management, and some blame it on the new tech and how they understand it and can use it to their advantage.
