The latest automotive technology is first offered by the top tier manufacturers - Digital fuel injection & engine management, transmission management, environmental management, stability control, HMI....As these technologies rapidly become more affordable they will become ubiquitous but then are very soon deemed mandatory. For instance, in the majority of the world a new vehicle can only be certified for sale if certain features are included as standard, such as stability control, anti lock brakes & air bags. In almost all instances these features are via software/IP, although this software/IP does necessitate new hardware to enable full functionality.The engine, transmission, & other dozen or so ECU that is installed to allow a vehicle to operate is in everything from the cheapest Chinese vehicle to a Mercedes Benz. These ECU are all operating numerous IP software from many different manufacturers. This is where royalties are generated.
This is also where BRN are no doubt aiming. Akida everywhere via embedded IP means ongoing royalties for BRN.
