MELBOURNE (Dow Jones)--

Zinifex Ltd. (ZFX.AU) said Friday the scheme of arrangement for its merger with Oxiana Ltd. (OXR.AU) has been approved by the Supreme Court of Victoria, clearing the way for the deal to proceed.

The zinc and lead miner said it has now lodged a copy of the scheme with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and its shares will be suspended from trade from the close of trade Friday.

Oxiana shareholders will now meet on July 18 to vote on changing the name of the enlarged entity to OZ Minerals Ltd.
