One obvious 'economy of scale' might be to immediately rationalise the new Board, which comes off the blocks already looking unnecessarily bloated and in need of a cull.

At least Patronus has appointed an experienced mining executive, John Ingram, as Chief Operating Officer (Announcement, 5th August). With luck Mr Ingram comes with a fire in his belly, and a clear vision of how to make best use of the Company's expanded but raggedy portfolio - not to forget its substantial warchest.
