I contacted the ATO yesterday in attempt to clarify what is happening with the Capital Gains Tax situation related to AKE and the possible merger with Livent.
Fortunately, I spoke to someone who was thoroughly conversant with this as she delved deeper and deeper into the possibility of this scenario.
She asked me for figures and the share-price.
I said all I had was a 56% AKE and 44% Livent figure and the share-price appeared to move in tandem with both companies.
I also offered, what I thought may be of relevance from that downloaded booklet.
She went on and drilled down to attempt to work out the, ‘why’s and where fore’s” of the merger.
In conclusion, she said there was not enough information at this point in time to give a concrete answer.
So, that is as far as I got, or more to point, the ATO employees’ journey through this.
If anyone has any further research on this, by all means enlighten me!?
