Max - if I may sneak in - that is the glass half full view of it (let alone hoping for a 'full' take over).
The other view is - as Hoots astutely stated - they only need 51% of shares on issue to control the company, where by they could install their own board and effectively execute a 'take over'.....(I'm unsure off the top of my scone, what the big 3 currently hold) but wouldn't imagine they'd need too many more between them to get there....and have time to pick them up steadily, helped by world/commodity uncertainty....thus your premium expectation could be a tad on the disappointing side....especially if there is little YIELD on the shares....
But, my crystal ball needs a new lithium battery, so I can't be too sure which way we will go, but I put my two bob ownership/control to change significantly (significant can = 51% ;-)...doesn't have to be 75%/90% or 100%)....in the next 12-18 mths
