If the Romans hadn't completely wiped out the Carthaginians, maybe the African continent would have been advanced enough to feed itself today. Even the Egyptians could have done better without Roman interference, as they controlled the Nile for so long, and were advanced enough to invent beer.
I'm not blaming the Romans but what did they ever give back.
