McArthur River and Merlin mines are both located in the McArthur Basin, so they share a similar geological setting. So it would come as no surprise if we discover base metals on our tenure.

Just over the NT border and into Qld was another big zinc mine which was operated by several companies over the years. I think that the current owner has been mining the tailing since last year.

The clever way to overcome the remoteness was to transport the zinc concentrate to the Karumba port via a slurry pipeline.

Alex Kidman did indicate that Merlin has the potential to host base metals. So yeah, I don’t think he has his head buried in the sand.

I suppose we’ll know more about that, along with Merlin’s potential to host more kimberlites when the results of the Xcite survey are in during Q1 2025.
