Eight - yes I am sure Mermaid Marine's workers who do not have Australian passports are paid far less than the local workers
The announcement made to disallowed was released between trading window of 4pm to 4:10pm. With this announcement MRM was put in pre - market which prevented anyone trading the stock instead of an oppotunity for traders to dump.
I am sure that management of Mermaid will be in discussions during the period leading up to the 10 day unprecedented workers strike
The negotiations have gone on for 18 months and nothing has happened - until now
It makes sense because the last EBA of three years was signed late 2011
So it looks like the same merry go round for the next couple of months
Three years ago there was also industrial action institiated by the MUA against MRM
It were over 3 periods
two that lasted 4 days
one that lasted six days
a total of 14 days starting mid July 2011 - ending early August 2011
In an earliet that, I said that Mermaid Marine Australia had 3 issues that were putting pressure on it's share price
One - the massive purchase of Jaya and intergrating it successfully into the parent company
Two - earnings pressure from the Australian operations
Three - EBA
So far non of these boxed have been ticked and therefor risk is ongoing - in my opinion
