So put yourself in Madamswer's shoes. Can you imagine being in a place where the decisions you make about your own personal capital management are more consequential than working every day for someone else? Isn't that a destination where a lot of people would like to one day arrive?
And if you are a classic value investor it is hard but it is simple. Once you are fully invested it is just a matter of deciding when to sell a position, and where to invest any newly available capital. So guess what - you spend a great deal of time thinking about which companies are worthy of your capital and when those particular companies are at a price point where it makes sense to invest.
So you spend a lot of time looking at and thinking about these companies. If there happens to be a forum(s) available where info is exchanged that can potentially help to improve your thinking and results why wouldn't you participate? And if you see a company that seems to be priced well above or well below your estimate of the intrinsic value and you are willing to share that on a forum... I would suggest that you are doing a service.
FWIW it seems to me that Madamswer gives candid and honest views about things in a calm, factual way. If you are a thinking person, and you want to have good investing results, you could do worse than to have a look at the totality of M's comments on HC and the number of times where he has been proven right both directionally and specifically over time. Personally I had an investment in RFG that climbed from 4.50 to $7. Madamswer started posting that he thought it was worth maybe 3.80 on an enterprise value to ebita multiple, that remaining investment capital was limited and that their organic growth was actually negative.
I did not enjoy these suggested flaws in my modeling, however after considering it, concluded he was right and got out at 6. (It is now $4.50 again.) So being "open" to other people's feedback/criticism/ideas/etc was rewarding. If I just listened to the many people on the RFG thread who were cheerleading - I would be stuck at $4.50 like the cheerleaders...
If you do not enjoy his comments it is easy to ignore. But to accuse someone, with no evidence whatsoever, of attempting to mislead, or of being a shorter, or on some sort of a secret squirrel mission seems quite cowardly and shortsighted to me.
MSB will either get an FDA approval and make stacks of $ or they will run out of $ and become a zombie IP shell or someone else's RTO vehicle. Who knows - it could go either way time will tell hopefully it is a great result.
