"Torrid" does has specific climate meaning as well as a very specific geographical definition. The geographical torrid zone varies according to perturbations in the Earth's orbit so I will use more of a climate definition and define "torrid" as a distressingly uncomfortable combination of high temperature and high humidity. We can expect a higher frequency of more torrid weather events because of the climate changes we humans are causing.
