I've devoted the last month trying to understand both sides of this argument. And to be honest, it's still not clear. The Climate Science community have not done well in selling their message. Banging on about "the science is robust" does not help when there have been lapses in ethics which have reflected badly on the scientific community. Of course, the deniers have exploited these events. Lose trust, and it's nearly impossible to get it back, hence the poll results.
However, it's not so much about who is right rather the consequences of being wrong.
If the Warmists are wrong and we take action now, I'll be driving a Prius instead of a Corvette for no good reason. Ugly, but not the end of the world.
If the Deniers are wrong and we do nothing, it will be more than ugly for a lot of people around the globe.
On balance, it looks like right or wrong, we have no choice but to assume the Warmists are right and act now.
