I think I can answer one of these questions:

I decided to do some investigation:

From an email they sent me when I left a Roam-E in my cart I found it was sent from Shopify's servers.

So I decided to poke around seeing what the default order number setting is for Shopify... turns out it's 1000 and unable to be changed?

Looked some more and seems in 2013 a Shopify rep confirmed you cannot change:

So 97 preorders it likely is. [This was based off someone's order number they posted earlier in the thread]

This was posted mid May. If anyone has a more recent order number that they'd be willing to post here it may help us gauge how interest has increased.

I too am keen to see if the hype is there.
