Doh, they have the metre by metre samples for 300 cores.
I was in charge of analytical laboratories for a decade and a half. At the first opportunity the samples are divided into the types of analysis that are scheduled to be performed. Reserves of at least half of each sample is bagged, tagged and securely stored.
The labs have the samples.
