imo if the mobile phone technology can currently store the figure prints for use for customer security in its current technology format, then ANY Govt can legislate for telcos to store the figure prints as part of the metadata records or whatever other term is used to define the storing and using of those figure prints.

In recent history there have been many cases where credit card details have ben stolen, so what makes you believe there is no current technology available to match figure prints with mobile phone owners and Telco accounts and or for governments to use fingure prints in the current or future for any purpose whatsoever including for use by Law Enforcement Agencies for cross matching of DNA and or with figure prints or for use as a National or world-wide Identity system?
