metal detectors - anyone use them?

    going to have some time on my hands and have itchy feet.

    the range of metal detectors is quite large and confusing. but the minelab 5000 seems a good choice but have been searching the net and some of the 3d imaging types look pretty good tho expensive.

    anyone with experience with these?
