All that IP address would offer is tell the operator what type of rounds are in the venom weapon, it may have a mixture of rounds, and thy could tell it to fire only a particular type of round for this firing, firestorm does that and much more, for instance it can fire a non lethal round with much less KE than the venom without having to change rounds or it can fire over a greater range again without changing ammo.

It has optical fusing which is better than the type used in the XM25 for instance because it takes into account any movement of the target after firing, that is if the target is moving away for instance or heading toward the firer it can sense the target point has changed due to the optic fusing, that is not possible with something that is set before firing in the weapon, like in the XM25 or I suspect the medusa?
