www.float.com.au is a good place for free data (not sure how legal this is with the ASX though).
However, free data comes with a catch - it's usually not adjusted for stock splits, renames, deferred settlements, delistings etc. Also, many free providers disappear after a year or two and never come back, destroying your data collection habits.
Unless you enjoy pruning your database regularly then have a look at a commercial provider that can often layout the data much better than the free sources (eg. separate out warrants, Exchange Traded Options and Indices from the main stocks), has features for separating stocks into sectors and has very clean and accurate history.
Some providers allow you to obtain a free trial (usually with limited data history) so you can see how the service works before you buy it. I highly recommend obtaining a free trial because often you need to commit to a 6 or 12 month subscription.
www.premiumdata.net is a data vendor for ASX, SGX and US Market data.
