I have used the "ref" function in the past to enter "close"...

I have used the "ref" function in the past to enter "close" values for various dates in scans that I run on various indexes to ascertain a stocks adherence to index variations. i.e. how well does a stock follow the applicable ASX index.

For example: ref(C,-27) reads the "close" value, 27 trading days ago.

This is very laborious, as one has to count back the number of trading days to each date point of inflection, and with several changes in direction of the index, it takes a lot of time.

Is there a method that is simply based on a "date" format, e.g. dd/mm/yr or something similar. I can find no reference anywhere in the manual? ( I bought my version of Metastock around 10 years ago!)

    Thanks in advance,

    LL
