On March 4th the worlds first environmental spy satellite was launched, funded by Jeff Bezos, its mission is to track methane emissions to their source and monitor global efforts to reduce those emissions. This is largely the work of the Environmental Defence Fund, in collaboration with some eminent global organisations. Jeff Bezos obviously senses an opportunity here.
On Wednesday the International Energy Agency released a report showing Australia underreported its methane emissions by 64%..!! The MethaneSAT observations will expose this to the world, and the pressure applied to Australia to do something will be immense.
The emission police are on patrol.
