I was in Melbourne yesterday and tested the Flinders Street Station Metro Netbay Free Wi-Fi, for which GCN is supposed to provide advertisers.

The only advert I saw was for Netbay itself. Otherwise, nothing. So no revenue going to GCN.

On the good side this service was fast - vastly superior in speed to connection to the internet via 3G.

But what financial benefit is Metro Netbay Free Wi-Fi to GCN if the service does not attract any advertisers?

Or did I perhaps test the service on what was merely a bad hair day for GCN?

Over at GCN's www.uctv.fm there are only bad hair days for advertising. I haven't s commercial advert there for weeks.
