Funding our supposed enemy is not a new thing for the coalition.
During the Vietnam War they made much of the threat from Communist forces throughout East Asia including the Chinese but this didn't stop them from selling wheat to China.
No business comes first.
I suppose this coalition practice goes all the way back to the days of "Pig Iron Bob" aka Sir Robert Gordon Menzies.
Prior to the war Menzies as PM encouraged the export of pig iron to the Japanese despite clear evidence of the emerging threat from Japan.
Menzies went on to form the liberal party.
John Howard seems to believe that Menzies was our greatest PM.
Seems to say a lot about Howard.
