    Something's up! The press release I posted - just a couple of hours after its release - has now been pulled from all on-line media. Must have been a leak. Some politics going on here.

    Possibly its related to this release (below) - an announcement from the Governor that appeared 3 hours after the schools testing and at about the time the other was pulled. This one points to the big drug problem whereas the schools testing report only referred to 9 detections. Contradictions perhaps. Who knows?

    It's a matter of 'watch this space'.

    Monterrey .- Gov. Natividad Gonzalez Parás revealed that between 15 thousand and 20 thousand young people face critical situations nuevoleoneses health, as a result of addiction.

    During the presentation of results of the programme "Early Detection of Addictions," the state representative explained the seriousness of the problem, which in tandem with the presence of organized crime, generating concern in citizenship.

    Young people with addiction problems "are in critical condition and require direct assistance to solve the problem of a serious addiction to the degree of difficulty."

    He mentioned that despite the leadership of Nuevo Leon in the economic, educational and cultural fields, "experiencing at the moment for a serious problem of presence of organized crime and addiction."

    In the case of the latter category, he noted that "has grown like never before" in the country and the entity, where estimates are "200 thousand people who consume drugs in one form or another", being the consumption of cocaine, amphetamines and crack which goes to the rise in recent years.

    González Parás reiterated his call to strengthen the common front against organized crime networks and against addictions.

    Proceeds from these actions, in conjunction with federal authorities during the state administration began in October 2003, has achieved the capture of more than five thousand narcomenudistas, of which 500 thousand arrested in the past year, he said
