You seem to be assuming that Big actually saw the article before it was published. They may not have done so but had some written questions. Furthermore when you read the article it just insinuates a whole range of problems. It was also fishing to see what might come out.

Management released a price sensitive notice on Thursday. They may have thought they were responding to the issue at hand i.e. their broader relationship with Finsto rather that the issuance of shares which they have believed that they had already closed down.
