I think people who were 100% cash should be treated the same as people that had open positions. Lets face it, we all have money with the broker to trade, so when things like this happen, its only a matter of luck if you are all cash or not. On a different day, it would have been different people 100% cash, and invested. Just purely random. On top of that, people in positions most likely would have been happy to sell and go cash, but the asx stopped this. I would assume postions open would pretty much balance out to even. Some would be down, but some would be up, leaving it a pretty much zero sum game when they were closed out.
