I sold out of my positions today in my cfd account with etrade...

I sold out of my positions today in my cfd account with etrade and instead of showing a $20,000 balance it is now showing a $4,000 debit. etrade are playing dumb and are going to get back to me (further questioning has revealed that i am not the only one). My account was working fine until i started selling down my positions. I had a friend lose almost everything in the opus debacle, hope this is not a repeat.
